Swagbucks review quick verdict

Swagbucks is a legitimate website (and app) that allows you to make extra cash in your spare time by doing surveys, shopping, playing games, searching the web and more.

It’s great because there are lots of different ways to earn with Swagbucks and if you put some time into the app it’s not going to take too long to get a payout. Unlike some other money making apps.

There are some downsides, including getting screened out of some surveys after you’ve already started. Some users even report being screened out at the end of the survey, which means you’ve wasted your time.

There’s plenty of different stuff on the site to keep you interested, and you don’t have to engage with every aspect of Swagbucks to make money.

When it’s time to withdraw your cash – once you hit 1500 Swagbucks (SB) – then you can redeem your SB for rewards such as Amazon gift cards or cash to your PayPal account.

It’s not my favourite survey site – I’ve been able to earn a payout quicker with Prolific

Ways to make money with Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a Get Paid To (GPT) website, and app, that offers a variety of tasks and offers that let you earn SBs that can be exchanged for real cash.

Here are the key ways to earn money with the site.

Surveys

I spend the most time in the surveys section of Swagbucks and there’s a pretty long list of potential surveys – more than you may get with other survey sites.

But I hate that you get screened out of a survey halfway through or close to the end.

This means you may spend two to five minutes answering questions and then get sent back to the start – with no SB earned!

Having said that this doesn’t mean this happens every time and there are plenty of times you will take a survey and will earn the SB, or they’ll tell you at the start you’re not the right fit for the survey.

The surveys are about various things, such as your lifestyle, details about your work and opinions.

Daily bonus

Swagbucks will let you earn bonus SB if you complete a daily To Do List.

When you login to the site you can check out your To Do List and monitor your progress. The things you need to complete to get the Daily Bonus are:

  • Daily poll
  • Daily search
  • Add a Magic Receipts offer
  • Deal of the Day
  • Daily Activity
  • Daily Discover
  • Attempt a survey
  • Complete a survey

You can earn 2SB for completing six items or 7SB for completing eight items.

Shop (cashback)

Head to the shopping section of the Swagbucks site and you’ll find tons of partner brands where you can shop to earn Swagbucks (or cashback).

There are lots of UK based brands partnered up with Swagbucks, such as Sainsbury’s, Iceland, Disney, Tesco, Argos, M&S, First Choice, TK Maxx and more.

There are occasional offers that will boost your SB for signing up to certain deals or subscription services (do not forget to cancel before you get charged for a full month).

The cashback is often similar to or less than other cashback sites such as TopCashback, JamDoughnut and Quidco.

SwagButton

Adding SwagButton to your browser extension – Chrome, Firefox or Edge – means you don’t need to head to the Swagbucks site to do your shopping.

The SwagButton will notify you when you’re on a site with sales, coupons and cashback offers.

So it saves you money and ensures you’re taking advantage of Swagbucks rewards even when you’re not on the site.

Magic Receipts

Another way to earn SB while shopping is to submit copies of your receipts to Swagbucks.

Unlike other receipt scanning apps such as Shoppix, you cannot just scan or submit any receipt. Swagbucks wants you to shop for specific products that are listed in the Magic Receipts section of the site.

For example I currently have an offer to buy a specific bottle of wine from Sainsbury’s, and sharing the receipt proving purchase will earn me 200SB.

Play games

Some of the game challenges a bit of a time suck. For example one offer on my profile is to earn 5,500 SB but you have to reach level 70 of Bingo Blitz within seven days of installing the app.

I reckon that’s quite a lot of time playing a game, and if you don’t get to that level you don’t get the payout!

For that reason I’m not a huge fan of the gaming section of the site, but I know that others may really enjoy playing simple games for cash. It’s great if you have a lengthy commute and want something to do.

Searching the internet

One of the easiest ways to earn with Swagbucks is to use them as your default search engine. Simply log into your account and use the search bar at the top of the page.

As well as searching on the Swagbucks site, you can also make it your default search engine in your browser.

Then you just search as normal – what I would add is it’s not quite the same as Google as you may still find yourself needing to manually head to Google if the results aren’t yielding what you want.

Discover – offers

Under the Discover section of the site you’ll find various different ways to earn that include offers to earn you bonus SB.

Some of them may involve spending money on signing up to a subscription, but not all require a purchase. Many offers are simply signing up to a service, for example I used an offer to join Freestuff to earn 50SB – so basically they’re paying me for my email address.

You’ll be able to read some details about the offer when you click on them, and this usually specifies whether a purchase is required to fulfil the offer.

Referring a friend

Share your Swagbucks referral link with friends and you will earn 300SB if they earn 300SB in their first month using the site.

And you’ll earn 10% of their earnings for the life of their account too!

Is Swagbucks a legit way to make money?

Yes Swagbucks UK is totally legit. The site was founded in the US in 2008 and is owned by Prodege.

Online reviews on sites such as TrustPilot show it is a widely well-liked and trusted site. The biggest complaints – which I can also attest to as a user – is being screened out of surveys and offers when you’ve already got started.

How much is 1SB worth in British Pounds?

You can cashout when you hit 1500 Swagbucks (SB) and that’s worth £15.

So 1SB is worth 1p.

If you have 1,000 SB then that would be worth £10, but you cannot convert your SB to cash until you hit the minimum 1500 threshold.

How much can you make with Swagbucks?

The most I have made with Swagbucks in one hour is £3 (or 3SB).

However I think it’s possible to make a little more than that by doing other quick tasks, like search, referring a friend and shopping.

What do you earn with Swagbucks?

You can exchange your Swagbucks for cash to your PayPal account or gifts cards to brands such as these:

  • Amazon
  • M&S
  • Tesco
  • John Lewis
  • Caffe Nero

Final thoughts on Swagbucks

As you can see you can make money with Swagbucks – it’s no scam!

The website can be a lot to get used to initially as there’s so much going on, with lots of different options to earn money.

Spend some time on there and you’ll soon discover your preferred ways to earn and the great thing is if you make Swagbucks your default search engine you’ll be earning without any effort at all.
