19 Ways to Make Extra Money (Earn $100 a Day)

Need smart ways to make extra money every single day?

These money-making ideas include creative and flexible ways to make money quickly so that you can boost your budget.

Whether you need more money to cover your essential expenses, or would like extra cash towards fun stuff in life such as trips and improvements to your home, there are plenty of options.

An increasing number of people have side hustles to help them cover day-to-day expenses and afford stuff they really want.

In the UK, two in five Brits have a side hustle, while in the US, while in the US 40 per cent of adults do extra work to make more money.

Whether you are a parent wanting to bring in some more money with work that fits around your kids, or a teen hoping to bring in more cash, you can use these ideas to help.

Some people do a combination of these or focus on just one thing. Not every single one can bring in $100 a day, but several have the potential to bring in well over $500 extra per day if you can put some time into working at it.

Paid surveys

This is a very easy way to make some extra cash in your spare time. There are zero costs involved for getting started and you can work as much or as little on it as you want.

This is not a high paid side hustle, but some months I have managed to make over $100 from survey sites. Other months I have made less than $10, but it really depends how much time you put into this.

You can boost your earnings by signing up to multiple sites and apps, as some only have so many surveys they can offer you per day.

Wherever you are in the world, there will be various different options you can try.

One of the best money-making survey sites in the US is Survey Junkie

I also really rate Swagbucks

Research studies and mystery shopping

You can get paid for giving your views on products, food and services. This is a fun way to get paid for doing things you would do anyway, like shopping and eating out.

Focus groups, like survey sites, will not make you a full-time income but are a great way to make extra cash in your spare time.

Mystery shopping involves testing out the service offered by stores, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants. There are agencies that will find you this type of work.

Blogging

You can earn $1000 a week and more through blogging.

Making money from a blog doesn’t involve sharing your daily journal regarding your thoughts and feelings or what you had for lunch.

A money-making blog, or niche site, focuses on a particular topic and provides helpful content to the audience.

Good niches for a blog include:

  • Gardening
  • DIY
  • Digital marketing
  • Fitness
  • Sport – be specific with one particular sport
  • Recipes and food

Bloggers make money through adverts placed on their site – I have a partnership with Mediavine which pays me based on how many people view my ads.

They also earn by selling products and affiliate marketing – which is where you promote other people’s products and earn a commission from those sales.

This is no get-rich-quick scheme and you’ll have to accept earning basically nothing for a few months before you see results.

In order to make money in this area you’ll need to get traffic to your website. There are a few options for this. Google used to be the preferred one but algorithm changes have made this much more challenging.

Pinterest and Facebook remain solid ways bloggers can bring in traffic. Both require daily effort to create new posts on the social media platforms, as well as write fresh content for your blog itself.

Freelance writer

The trouble with blogging is that it does cost money to set up and run your own website. You’ll have to pay for a domain name and hosting, as well as spend time writing content.

However, if it’s writing you love doing, then an alternative is to write for other people’s websites, blogs and publications.

If you want your own platform, then Substack offers a free newsletter platform where you can build an audience and charge them a subscription to read your work. This is something that takes time to build, but if you are a talented writer in a popular niche then it can be a really great way to get paid for doing something you love.

YouTube

Successful YouTubers make money through advertising placed in their videos, as well as selling their own products and services and affiliate marketing.

Introverts need not be put off, because there are plenty of channels that make money that are totally faceless channels. They simply use stock video footage, footage of a product being used or slides.

In order to launch your YouTube channel follow these steps:

  • Pick a niche – zero in on something specific such as travel, fitness, productivity or product reviews.
  • Have a publishing schedule – publish new videos three times a week when getting started to grow quickly.  If this schedule is too much then go for one a week.
  • You don’t need fancy equipment – many YouTubers start off filming with their smartphone and edit on free software such as iMovie (this is what I use).
  • See what videos are proving successful for other channels in your niche and make your own versions, but make it better!

YouTube makes me around $1500 a month for six hours of work per week, which I don’t think is too bad.

TikToker

The explosion of social media platforms means there are opportunities to make money online whatever you are into.

On TikTok, many influencers make money by growing a large audience and getting paid by TikTok for views. However they also make money through sponsorship and selling products.

This is not an easy path to choose and building an audience takes consistency, time and patience. However, choosing a niche you are into and think about/practice every single day makes it much easier.

Become a delivery driver

There are multiple delivery firms that hire casual drivers to deliver food and goods. Amazon, Uber, Dominos and DoorDash are just some of the companies where you can find work.

The pay is not amazing compared to other casual work, but you can pick and choose what hours you take on which works around a family or studying nicely.

Look after people’s pets

If you love animals then this is a great way to earn extra cash. People going away on holiday or people who work long hours are always looking for help with their pets.

You could specialise in walking dogs, or offer your services as a cat-sitter.

If you are going to do this then it’s wise to get some kind of insurance to cover you, and complete a course in animal first aid. You may want to start with pets belonging to friends so you can get some reviews for your services.

Buy and sell things for money

This is such a great way to make extra cash if you are really into certain items and have gained some knowledge in them.

One example of this is fashion. If you know your labels and can spot trends, then you could bag bargains from online marketplaces like eBay or your local Facebook marketplace groups, then sell them on for a profit.

This also works with collectable items and furniture too. Lots of people want to get rid of old furniture from their home without the hassle of having to transport it, so they will give it away from free so long as someone comes to collect it.

If you are handy with DIY, you could upcycle old furniture to flip it for a profit.

Digital products

There’s a huge demand for all kinds of digital products online, from spreadsheets to manage personal and business finances to wedding invitations and stationery that people can download and print at home.

You can sell digital products on sites such as Etsy or from your own website. The benefit of using Etsy is that the audience is already there, whereas you’ll need to grow an audience for your website.

Print on demand sales

A print on demand business involves customising print on demand products – such as t-shirts, jumpers, mugs and socks – with your own designs.

You then sell those products online, and a company such as Printify fulfils the orders for you.

Being successful in this area requires you to make something a little different that really stands out. So it’s a great side hustle for people with an eye for graphic design or illustration to make something really different for the items.

This print on demand seller has made hundreds of thousands of pounds!

Make and sell your own products

Products you could sell include jewellery, toddler resources and activity books, furniture, planners and party essentials like invitations.

Narrow down on a particular area and think about what you can bring to the market that’s unique.

I know of a mum who makes her own play dough kits from home, and another who sells learning resource booklets for toddlers.

Transcription

You can do transcription from home and take on as many or as few jobs as you want, making it a nice flexible way to earn extra money.

Transcription involves typing up audio or video content into written format. You will need a computer and some people find it useful to have a headset and pedal that can connect to your computer and let you pause the audio hands-free as you type.

Of course being able to type quickly is pretty essential to being able to meet deadlines and get more jobs completed on time.

There are various agencies you can sign up with, and some don’t require you to have any experience.

You can find online transcription jobs here.

Tutoring

If you’re a qualified teacher, competent with a particular musical instrument or know a second language fluently then you could look for tutoring work.

There’s a huge demand from parents for help to get their kids ready for exams or support them in certain subjects are school. Plus adults who have relocated to another country may want extra support with learning the language.

This work can pay as much as $50 an hour, so that means you could work from home and earn $100 a day easily.

You’ll need a laptop, decent internet connection and for certain subjects you’ll have to be able to prove that you have necessary qualifications to teach the subject. Working with an agency that connects you with students is often the best way to get started.

If you have no qualifications or second language then you can try an agency like Cambly, which pays you to speak to people online in English to help them brush up on the language.

Virtual assistant

A virtual assistant provides remote support to an individual or company with tasks such as admin, answering emails, posting on social media, preparing reports, booking travel and more.

You can find rolls on jobs boards online, or reach out to entrepreneurs such as bloggers and YouTubers who may need help with their business.

Sell stock photos

Stock photos are used by a range of businesses and organisations. If you have a good eye for photos then you could sell your photos online on platforms such as Shutterstock and Creative Market.

Your photos could be pictures of places, countries or illustrate a particular thing, such as work, home life and parenting.

Create and sell your own course

Lots of people love to learn new skills from home and so selling your own online course is a great way to earn passive income.

Topics for online courses include fitness, marketing, blogging, arts and crafts, hobbies, design, photography, video production, wellness and finance.

There are platforms you can pay to host your course such as Kajabi, so that all of your individual classes (written or in video format) are accessible easily to your students.

Earn as you shop

If you are shopping online without using cash back sites then you are leaving money on the table.

Cashback is money you receive back on your shopping for using an affiliate link. There are various companies that offer cash back, such as Rakuten and TopCashback. All you need to do is set up an account and remember to use links to the places where you shop when you come to buy something.

Rent out your stuff

If you own useful stuff then chances are, someone who doesn’t will be happy to pay you to borrow it.

Websites such as Hygglo will connect you with people looking to borrow things.

Some examples of stuff you can rent out include:

  • DIY equipment
  • Household tools
  • Luxury outfits and handbags
  • Drones
  • Cameras
  • Kitchen equipment
