Want an easy way to earn free stamps and extra cash? This Mailagents review is going to show you how to do just that!
I’ve been using Spectos Mailagents for over six months now and it’s a great way to make extra cash without taking up too much of your time.
Being a MailAgents tester involves receiving test letters and parcels, logging when they arrived, then posting them out again and logging that too.
Once a month you’ll receive a bundle of free Royal Mail stamps and you’ll also earn points as you log receiving post, which can eventually be exchanged for cash gift cards for retailers such as Amazon.
If you’re wondering whether this is a legit organisation, yes it absolutely is. If you’re still not sure whether it’s worth signing up, then read on for more details about Mailagents.
Mailagents Quick Verdict
Becoming a Mailagents tester is an easy way to get £20 of free stamps every month, plus a £25 gift card every six months once you’ve earned 2,500 points.
Being a Mailagent is a bit like being a mystery shopper for the Royal Mail and it requires only a few minutes of your time every week.
The biggest downside is that so much of the rewards are tied up in stamps.
Getting started with Mailagents isn’t particularly straightforward – you have to do a series of quizzes about what’s required of you as a Mailagent, for which the guidance is weak.
However once you’re over that hurdle, it’s a simple organisation to be involved with.
You may receive one or more letters or parcels per week – sometimes more, the most I have received is four letters in one week. Then you’ll need to record when they arrived, including the time if you know the time, and most often you’ll have to post something back.
I’ve had no huge problems with using the app, and I simply drop my test letters in the postbox on my way out (Mailagents likes you to use a postbox near your own home to keep it within your postcode).
It’s worth noting that the Spectos Mailagents app has an atrocious rating on the App Store – only 1.5 stars. This is because several people have reported issues using the app.
For what it’s worth I’ve never had issues with the app.
What is Mailagents?
Mailagents is a survey organisation owned by Spectos – a company specialising in testing customer services – and operates in conjunction with YouGov.
People who take part in the Mailagents study are helping Royal Mail to improve their services by logging how long it takes mail to reach them.
Participants are asked to send and receive test items, and log it all in the Mailagents app.
How does Mailagents work?
I was invited to join Mailagents via YouGov, which is a survey site I’ve been signed up to for a couple of years.
However you can also apply to Mailagents on their website.
Once you are signed up and have let Mailagents know your address, you need to download the app.
On the app you will be tasked with completing a series of quizzes. These are about what you need to do as a Mailagent. They are not easy, and finding the information to answer the questions in the Mailagents tutorials isn’t easy either.
They are multiple choice questions, so I just kept going back and guessing the answers I didn’t know until I got it right.
Once this was one, the process was easy.
I receive letters or parcels, open the app and scan the QR code on the letter that came with it, answer questions including what date the parcel arrived and what the postage on it was.
Then I normally have to post either a bundle of letters or a parcel, or send back a transponder (which comes in a tiny envelope).
Mailagents rewards
In return for taking party in Mailagents surveys you will receive:
- 12x 1st Class stamps (monthly) – worth £13.20
- 4x 1st Class Large Letter stamps (monthly) – worth £6.40
- 2x presentation pack of stamps (every 6 months) – worth £19.90
In addition once you reach 2,500 points in the Mailagents app then you will be able to exchange those for a £25 voucher.
There’s a long list of big retailers who you can get gift cards for, including:
- Amazon
- John Lewis
- Argos
- M&S
- Tesco
So as you can see you will get £20 worth of stamps every month, plus every six months a couple of special presentation packs too.
You’ll make £20 or more a month using Mailagents – when you add the free stamps and gift card together.
Obviously if you send a lot of mail then those free stamps are going to really appeal to you, however if you’re not someone who sends many letters then those stamps may be a little useless.
You can of course save them up for your Christmas cards, or sell them on eBay – there’s plenty of listings for stamps on eBay although you may struggle to get face value for them.
What’s great about Mailagents is that I’ve had the odd month where I was not selected to receive any mail, however I still received my free stamps!
Final thoughts
If you’re already signed up to several survey sites to boost your income then it’s worth giving Mailagents a try.
It only takes a few minutes of your time every week, however you may think the free stamps aren’t worth your time if you don’t send much post and don’t want the hassle of trying to sell them on.
