Shopmium Review: Are The Offers Worth It?
If you want to save money on your supermarket shop then this Shopmium review is going to explain how you can!
The Shopmium cashback app offers exclusive deals for users on specific products available at most of the UK’s biggest supermarkets.

Offers change regularly and you’re likely to find items you already buy as well as some new items to try out.
But is Shopmium any good and how much can you actually earn in cashback? This review will explain all!

What is Shopmium?
Shopmium is a cashback app that features money back on specific products for purchasing at specific stores.
Once you’re signed up you can browse offers in the app by supermarket – most of the main ones are here, Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Waitrose.
Some product offers can be picked up from multiple stores, others are specific for where you have to buy the product from.
The app boasts of exclusive deals, but you will find some elsewhere too.
For example their free Simply Cook trial is widely available from other deals and cashback sites.
How does Shopmium work?
Using Shopmium is very simple. Follow these steps:
- Download the app and follow the instructions to set up an account. You will need to provide an email address.
- Browse the app for offers.
- Once you’ve found one you like follow the instructions to redeem. You’ll generally need to purchase the product at a participating supermarket.
- Upload a picture of your receipt to the app to prove you bought it so you can request your cashback. You may also need to answer some questions about the product.
- Your cashback will be processed within 48 hours. The payment will then be sent to your chosen payment method in 3 working days.
Payment can be made to your PayPal account or bank account.
You can earn extra money back with credits which are awarded to you based on the level of activity in the app.
And there’s a further chance to earn extra money by referring a friend, which will net you £3 per friend who signs up.
What kind of offers does Shopmium have?
Shopmium offers money off food, drink and essentials such as razors and hair products.
The deals vary from product to product. You may be offered 100% cashback on certain products, or a set amount off.
There are lots of 50% off deals on the app.
Just to give you some idea of what’s available, here are the offers on my Shopmium app as I write this (remember that offers change regularly so you may not see these when you sign up):
- Cheerios Multigrain – £1 off
- Nesquik – £2 off
- Rockstar Refresh Energy Drink – Try for free
- Peroni Nastro Azzurro Stile Capri – £1 off
How much can you save with Shopmium?
My latest Shopmium deals total £197 of cashback offers.
Shopmium is more specific than many other cashback apps, as it offers cashback on specific products, rather than your whole shop at particular brands like TopCashback does.
But there’s a LOT of savings to be made, with 50% cashback on some items or freebies to get you to try products out.
Just don’t expect to get that whole £197 cashback.
Pros and cons of Shopmium
| PROS | CONS |
|---|---|
| The products on offer are varied – from soft drinks to foods, and alcohol to animal food and essentials like razors. | Lots of the offers may not be relevant for you. While you may like trying brand new products, if it’s something you weren’t going to buy anyway then it’s not really a saving. |
| Cashback is available reasonably quickly once you have submitted your proof of purchase. | There aren’t a huge number of offers when you open the app. |
| Easy to use app and nicely laid out. | The app has a Help section with tutorials but no easy-to-find contact form for support. |
How much have I saved with Shopmium?
I’ve saved a few pounds with Shopmium but I’ve saved a lot more money with other cashback apps and sites.
My biggest issue with Shopmium is it only offers cashback on specific products. Now those offers are pretty tasty, with as much as 50% off or even some products totally free.
But while the app boasts the current cashback deals available to me total £197, I can only found less than £10 that I actually want to use.
Deals that aren’t worth me snapping up included cat food (I don’t have a cat), weaning snacks (I don’t have a baby) and random energy drinks that don’t look like my cup of tea.
I did manage to find three great deals on my most recent browse of the app, but largely I open the app and am not particularly blown away by the choice.
It’s still worth downloading though as you will find the odd offer that’s a bargain for you.
Shopmium reviews
The Shopmium app has an Average rating on Trustpilot of 3.5 stars.
Some people rave about the offers, but others complain they have had trouble uploading images to the app.
Final thoughts
I would recommend downloading the Shopmium app and seeing if any of the offers available are for you.
It doesn’t make financial sense to go out of your way to head to a different supermarket to take up one of the offers when most only offer a £1 to £3 savings.
But you may well find some offers that are relevant for what you already buy.
When it comes to cashback apps to use for grocery shopping, I personally prefer JamDoughnut, which lets you buy vouchers to use at most of the big grocery stores. You then get cashback on the voucher purchase.
See my JamDoughnut review for more information.
Although the saving percentages are bigger on Shopmium, they’re only on specific products so might not be worth it for you.
